Yahoo!

Taking a hot consumer application such as Instant Messaging, adding enterprise functionality, and positioning the new product for discerning IT managers was no easy feat. This is just the challenge that Yahoo! faced as it prepared to introduce Yahoo! Messenger Enterprise Edition to the corporate market in early 2003. Needing a highly technical white paper and accompanying sales and technical “We were impressed with theContent Bureau’s ability to quickly grasp and articulate both high-level business benefits and detailed product functionality—all within an aggressive delivery timeframe.” – Dave Bottoms, Director of Product Marketing in Yahoo!’s Enterprise Solutions Group PowerPoint presentations, Yahoo! approached the Content Bureau with the challenge—and the Content Bureau delivered.

Our team worked closely with marketing, product marketing, and several sales engineers and developers to create a 30-page paper that clearly described the specific functionality and benefits of the new product. Then we created a set of architecture and functional diagrams to bring the product to life for readers. Once the white paper was complete, we developed companion sales and technical presentations, using the same graphics to ensure a consistent look and feel. The final deliverables earned high praise throughout the organization. As Dave Bottoms, then Director of Product Marketing in Yahoo!’s Enterprise Solutions Group, explains, “We were impressed with the Content Bureau’s ability to quickly grasp and articulate both high-level business benefits and detailed product functionality—all within an aggressive delivery timeframe.” So pleased was the Yahoo! team that they asked us to update the paper of the renamed Yahoo! Business Messenger for its October 2003 release.
